Studying through the ages: Andrea Schaer & Céline Ueltschi

In the latest episode of our Alumni Red Couch, two generations of UniBE graduates talk about student life – then and now.

Together, they show how differently studying at the University of Bern can be experienced – and what connects all generations: team spirit, the formative environment, and the strong network that continues long after graduation.

Andrea Schaer: Lecturer at the Institute of Archaeological Sciences, studied in the 1990s and looks back on a time when studying was less digitized, lectures were held in person, and much was done by hand – from note-taking to drawing. For her, her studies were characterized by community, fieldwork, and lifelong connections.

Céline Ueltschi: Assistant physician, reports from a different student world: podcasts, laptops, and internships shaped her everyday life between the library, university sports, and the hospital.
